PRONUNCIATION: KLOO-tee

Klute’s MLS career got off to a rocket-fast start with a team Defensive Player of the Year honor for his excellent performance over the course of the 2013 season. As a raiding left back with sturdy defensive sensibilities, Klute rapidly established himself as one of the top up-and-coming fullbacks in the league in his first two years before being dealt to Columbus in 2015. Klute’s train slowed slightly in 2015, but his natural ability mixed with his heady defensive sense makes him an intriguing defender to monitor for the future.

INTERNATIONAL: Klute was involved with the U17 and U20 national teams before being named to a preliminary 26-man roster for the January camp for the full senior team.

OUTSIDE MLS: Klute’s professional career began with the Atlanta Silverbacks in the NASL in 2011, where he spent much of the next year in the reserves before being loaned and then sold to the Rapids in 2013.

COLLEGE: Klute played two years of college ball split between Furman and Clayton State in 2011. He played the lion’s share of both seasons and was named to the NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region team in 2011.
