Cann joined Toronto FC in April 2010 as a free agent after leaving Esbjerg FB of Denmark. Cann was originally selected 16th overall in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids. From Colorado he joined the Montreal Impact and then the Vancouver Whitecaps before leaving for Denmark. Cann has earned nine international caps for Canada and is still active for international duty.
2011:Appeared and started in 12 matches, logging 988 minutes, before tearing his ACL on May 31, ending his season. Nutrilite Canadian Championship: Made two starts during Canadian Championship. On May 4 against FC Edmonton, and in the first leg of the final on May 18 in Vancouver against the Whitecaps.
2010:Started in all 26 games he played in during the season. Made his debut on April 15 against Philadelphia Union. CONCACAF Champions League: Captained the team and won Man of the Match honours during a 0-0 tie with Cruz Azul in Mexico on September 21. International: Played 47 minutes for Canada in a friendly against Jamaica on January 31, in his lone appearance for the national team in 2010.
Cann was drafted 16th overall in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids and made just two appearances. Released midway through his first season he moved to the USL First Division and signed with the Montreal Impact making a total of 22 appearances. From there he moved west to the Vancouver Whitecaps and signed with them in 2006. He made 58 appearances for the club and was awarded the “Most Outstanding Defender” in 2007.
Before returning to Canada to join Toronto, Cann spent two seasons playing in the Danish league with Esberg FB.
