2013: Acquired from Toronto FC on 7/9, Silva stepped in and made an immediate impact for the Black-and-Red scoring goals in his first three games. In his first start for United on 7/20, the striker notched his first goal of the season against the Chicago Fire, which was nominated for AT&T MLS Goal of the Week. On 7/27 against the New England Revolution, he opened the scoring for both squads and tallied his second goal to give the Black-and-Red the early lead. He was the catalyst in United’s 3-1 victory over the Montreal Impact on 8/3 as he found the back of the net once again, and with doing so took over the lead for the United’s golden boot. He creative attacking midfielder finished the season with three goals and two assists in 13 games played (13 starts) logging 1,042 minutes and tied former teammate Dwayne De Rosario for most goals on the team.
2012: After being selected fourth overall in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC, Silva made his debut on 3/7/12 against the Los Angeles Galaxy in the first leg of the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals, scoring as the game ended in a 2-2 tie. Silva made his MLS debut on 3/17 against Seattle Sounders FC and tallied his first League goal on 7/11 against Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Three days later, Silva scored the only goal of the game in an away win over the New England Revolution. Silva was also part of the Toronto FC side that won the Canadian Championship on 5/9, coming on as a late substitute in the first leg of the Final against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on 5/16, with Toronto winning 2-1 on aggregate. Silva made 30 MLS appearances (22 starts) for Toronto FC his rookie season, tallied five goals and added five assists.
2011: Silva enjoyed a very successful senior year at UCSB as he played and started 22 games, scored 17 goals and notched 10 assists for a total of 44 points. His goals total was the joint fourth-most in Gauchos history and his points total was the joint-most in the history of UCSB. Silva was named to the 2011 NSCAA All-American First Team; the 2011 College Soccer News All-American First Team; and was named Big West Conference Midfielder of the Year. Silva was also a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy. He was drafted fourth by Toronto FC in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, the highest pick in UCSB history.
2010: In his junior year, Silva appeared in 22 games (16 starts), the joint-most among all UCSB players that season. He tied for second in goals scored with six and tied for fourth in assists with four. His points tally (16) was the joint third-most on the team. Silva was again part of the team that made the NCAA Tournament, but the Gauchos fell 2-1 in the second round to California-Berkeley in overtime. Silva was named to the 2010 All-Big West Conference First Team.
2009: As a sophomore, Silva played and started 23 games, with the 2,008 minutes he logged the seventh-most in UCSB history. Silva tallied four goals, three game-winners, and was fourth overall on the team with 13 points. Silva also tied for third-best in assists (5). Silva played all 270 minutes for the Gauchos in the sides run to the NCAA Tournament (third round), eventually falling 2-1 to UCLA. Silva was named to the 2009 All-Far West Region Third Team, the 2009 All-Big West First Team and the 2009 Goal.com Third Team.
2008: In his freshman year with the University of California-Santa Barbara Gauchos, Silva made 21 appearances (18 starts), logged four assists and scored once in the 2-2 tie against UCLA on 10/1. That year, Silva played the most games and most minutes of any freshman and his 25 shots was good for second highest among freshmen. Silva was joint second best in assists, accumulated the fifth-most total points (6) and earned an All-Big West Honorable Mention. Silva played alongside D.C. United midfielder/forward Chris Pontius in what would be Pontius’ last year with the Gauchos.
