A technically gifted midfielder, Gil will try to make an impression in Houston after short stints in Colorado and Orlando. Fans can expect to see Gil as either an attacking midfielder or central midfielder. During his time at Real Salt Lake, Gil primarily played as the left-sided shuttler in Kreis' preferred 4-4-2 diamond formation, though can also play on the right side or point of the diamond.

INTERNATIONAL: Gil boasts extensive experience with the United States youth national teams, having represented his country at the Under-17, -18, -20 and -23 levels. He represented the US at both the U-17 and U-20 World Cups, scoring an impressive goal against Spain in the latter. He has two caps for the senior national team, the first coming in a Feb. 1, 2014 friendly against South Korea.

OUTSIDE MLS: Gil moved from RSL to Liga MX's Queretaro on a free transfer at the end of the 2015 season. During his time in Mexico he made 10 league appearances for los Gallos Blancos, plus four in Copa MX play.
