John Valencia

Defender John Alexander Valencia joined Chivas USA on January 24, 2012, a month after being crowned champion in the 2011 Colombian Liga Postóbon along with former team Atlético Junior. Originally from Medellin, Colombia, Valencia has played for Atletico Junior since the fall of 2007 where he accumulated a total of 114 appearances (112 starts). Valencia also helped Junior win the national championship in 2010.

Valencia started off his career in the youth ranks of Independiente Medellin in 2005, and made his first team debut the same year. Also in the same year, Valencia was sent on loan to Romanian club Otelul Galati. He then later returned to Colombia to join Atlético Bucaramanga in 2006, where he would score three goals in 17 matches, before joining Atlético Junior in 2007. Valencia has two kids; he enjoys watching basketball and is a fan of the Lakers and he hopes to attend a game soon.
