Career Summary

A veteran with an impressive international background, Robinson brought experience to the Red Bulls midfield in 2010, his first year with the club. Despite missing action in the middle of the season due to a lingering knee issue, the former Welsh International provided cover and depth in central midfield, appearing in 10 matches. The club will expect the same leadership and professionalism from the Welshman in 2011.

Professional:
2010:
Made 10 appearances, including three starts. Scored first goal for club in 4-1 victory at Toronto on Aug. 21. Came on as a substitute in the 58’ against FC Dallas on April 17 marking his Red Bulls league debut. Underwent surgery to repair right knee on May 26. Returned from injury on July 17 at Columbus.

2007-09: Signed with Toronto FC and was voted team MVP in his first year.  Robinson went on to the award again in 2008 and scored three goals in 74 league appearances with Toronto.

2006-07: Signed with Norwich City and scored two goals in 42 league matches.

2004-06: After an impressive loan spell with Sunderland, the club signed him to a three-year deal. A successful campaign saw Sunderland promoted following the 2004-05 campaign in which Robinson played 42 matches, scoring four goals.  He then went to Norwich City in 2005.

2002-04: Moved to Portsmouth and played in 15 matches to in the team’s promotion year before loan spells with five different English clubs.  In 2003, he scored one goal in four appearances for Sheffield Wednesday, one goal in 11 appearances with Walsall and made 14 appearances for Rotherham United.  In 2004, Robinson went on loan to Sheffield United, making five appearances before moving on loan to Sunderland, scoring a goal in his seven appearances.

1995-2002: Joined then-League Championship side, Wolverhampton Wanderers of England at the age of 18.  Appeared 165 times for Wolves and scored 19 goals, eight of which came in his 34 appearances during the 1998-99 campaign.

International:
Earned a total of 52 caps with the Welsh National Team. Made his debut in 1999 against Belarus.

Personal:
Favorite food is a standard English Sunday Roast. Favorite sports are basketball and darts and is a big admirer of professional dart player Phil Taylor. Favorite soccer team growing up was Manchester United. Always puts his right shoe on first as a superstition. Favorite vacation spot is the Bahamas. Enjoys spending time with his son and daughter on off-days.
