Career Summary

Retired following 2017 season.

Carroll, a defensive midfielder, brings tenacity, a tremendous work-rate and veteran savvy to the Union. He won MLS cups in 2004 with DC United and 2008 with the Crew, and four consecutive Supporters' Shields from 2006-2009. He will likely cross the 30,000 MLS regular season minutes played mark in the 2016 campaign, a testament to one of the leagues most enduring players. It is noteworthy that the combative midfielder hasn't been sent off once in his MLS career.

INTERNATIONAL: Carroll has been capped with the senior U.S. Men's National Team eight times, most recently on November 17, 2010, when he started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over South Africa in the Nelson Mandela Challenge. 

COLLEGE:  Carroll finished his three-year career at Wake Forest having started all 61 games in which he appeared. He received various honors in collegiate career, including NSCAA All-America third team, MAC Hermann Trophy Finalist, NSCAA All-South first team (twice) and All-ACC second team.
