American Exports: Buddle starts in Ingolstadt draw

AMSTERDAM — Edson Buddle made his first start of the young season on Friday night, working 84 minutes as Ingolstadt settled for a 0-0 draw with 2.Bundesliga guests Erzgebirge Aue.

The former LA Galaxy hit man had two chances to conjure a winner after the visitors had Fabian Müller sent off at the hour. Buddle rang the post after a fine turn on 70 minutes and nodded straight at the ‘keeper from close range just before departing.

The result booked Ingolstadt's first point of the season, but leaves them chasing a duck-breaker with a Round 3 date at Fortuna Düsseldorf set for July 29.
