CARSON, CA - The Houston Dynamo put an end this morning to their latest pre-season trip to Los Angeles with a 1-1 tie against Chivas USA, in a game played at the Home Depot Center.
The Men in Orange got on the board first at the 14th minute of play, courtesy of Alejandro Moreno. The Venezuelan international took advantage of a loose ball in the box after a save by Preston Burpo on a shot by Brian Mullan.
Although both teams were able to generate dangerous plays, neither one was able to cap them with goals. Chivas USA broke that pattern, however, at the 82nd minute. It was then that John Cunliffe was able to score, after a long pass from the left side of the field by Orlando Perez. In a good individual play, Cunliffe was able to beat Zach Wells in the head-to-head matchup for the equalizer.
With the tie, the Dynamo now have a 3-1-2 record in pre-season play. The team returns to Houston tomorrow evening, and to the practice fields on Monday, March 12, at 9:30 a.m. Practice will be held at Carl Lewis Track Field at the University of Houston.
The next game for the Dynamo will be on Wednesday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. CT against Pachuca in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. To purchase tickets, please log on to www.houstondynamo.com, or visit any Ticketmaster location.
