Kenny Powers is back.
The fictional down-on-his-luck baseball pitcher from the comedy series "Eastbound & Down" became a cult figure for his swagger, often unearned.
It may seem an odd choice for the Timbers Army to do a Kenny Powers-themed tifo before the Portland Timbers' Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs Western Conference Championship Leg 1 match against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday, but they did. It's a call-back to a previous tifo, done in 2015 on the way to their MLS Cup triumph that year, against the same opponent in Sporting.
The 2015 tifo message? "Cup-Bound and Down." This time around? "We're back, you're welcome" with Kenny Powers in a natty suit.
