MLS Disciplinary Committee suspends Impact's Emanuel Maciel for additional match, Lucas Cavallini fined twice

Montreal Impact midfielder Emanuel Maciel was suspended for an additional match (two matches total), and issued an undisclosed fine for serious foul play against Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Cristian Dájome in the 70th minute of the Impact’s 4-2 win on Sept. 13 (see video below).


Maciel will serve the first game of his suspension for the red card on Sept. 16 during Montreal’s match against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. He will serve the additional match suspension during Montreal’s match on Sept. 20 against the Philadelphia Union.

Cavallini hands to face, head, neck


The MLS Disciplinary Committee also issued two undisclosed fines to Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Lucas Cavallini, who was first deemed in violation of the league’s policy regarding hands to the face, head, or neck of an opponent in a 58th minute confrontation with Montreal defender Luis Binks on September 13.
