The LA Galaxy announced on Wednesday they have signed goalkeeper Matt Lampson.

The 29-year-old is a veteran of MLS, having previously played for Minnesota United, the Chicago Fire and Columbus Crew SC. He was selected by the Galaxy in the second stage of the 2018 Re-Entry Draft.

“Matt is a solid goalkeeper with experience playing MLS,” said LA Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese in a team statement. “He will add valuable depth to our goalkeeping position and we are glad to be able to add him to our roster.”

Lampson has spent most of his career as a backup. He was the starter for most of the 2017 season in Chicago, as the club enjoyed one of their best seasons in recent memory. The Tennessee native has made 60 appearances since making his professional debut in 2012. He is also renowned for his community work, winning MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year in 2016 and 2018.
