Independent Panel rescinds Erik Godoy red card, MLS Disciplinary Committee fines three

The Independent Review Panel has ruled on one red card appeal from Week 16 action in the 2020 MLS regular season. In addition, the MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued three fines following Week 16.


Godoy red card appeal

The Independent Review Panel, which consists of one representative each from the U.S. Soccer Federation, Canadian Soccer Association and Professional Referees Organization (PRO), has unanimously rescinded the one-game suspension and accompanying fine for the red card issued to Vancouver Whitecaps defender Erik Godoy in the 76th minute of Vancouver’s match against the San Jose Earthquakes on Oct. 7


As a result of Vancouver's appeal, Godoy is eligible to play in the team's next regular season game on Oct. 10 against Real Salt Lake.


Manotas failure to leave the field

The Disciplinary Committee has issued fined Houston Dynamo forward Mauro Manotas an undisclosed amount for his failure to leave the field in a timely manner after receiving a red card in first-half stoppage time during Houston’s match against FC Dallas on Oct. 7.


Bressan failure to leave the field

The Disciplinary Committee has fined FC Dallas defender Bressan an undisclosed amount for his failure to leave the field in a timely and orderly manner after the issuing of a red card in the 89th minute during Dallas’ match against the Houston Dynamo on Oct. 7.


Godoy failure to leave the field

The Disciplinary Committee has fined Vancouver Whitecaps defender Erik Godoy an undisclosed for his failure to leave the field in a timely and orderly manner after receiving a red card in the 76th minute during Vancouver’s match against the San Jose Earthquakes on Oct. 7
