FC Dallas will receive a club-record base fee of $4.5 million (€4 million) from FC Augsburg for midfielder Carlos Gruezo, a club source told MLSsoccer.com. The fee can rise to $6.2 million (€5.5 million) pending on incentives and the club retains up to a 20% sell-on value.

Augsburg announced the move on Tuesday.

The deal can only be eclipsed by Chris Richards' incentive-laden transfer to Bayern Munich. Dallas reportedly bought Gruezo for $1.5 million from Bundesliga side Stuttgart in 2016.

Gruezo, 24, made 98 appearances for Dallas, winning the 2016 Supporters' Shield and 2016 US Open Cup during his time in Texas.

The club signed Honduran midfielder Bryan Acosta earlier this year, as well as the development of Homegrown trio Paxton Pomykal, Edwin Cerrillo and Brandon Servania, leaving Dallas well-stocked in central midfield, even with Gruezo's departure.
