Whitecaps win expansion coin flip

HOUSTON --The Vancouver Whitecaps won a coin toss Wednesday against the fellow 2011 expansion Portland Timbers, earning the right to pick first among eight different MLS player acquisition procedures.

of professional teams Greg Anderson will join MLS Executive Vice
President Todd
Durbin for the event.
On Aug. 11, the two clubs will then take turns picking among the eight player mechanisms below, with each team claiming the No. 1 ranking in the specific player acquisition method they select. Vancouver has until that date to decide if they wish to select in the MLS Expansion Draft or the MLS SuperDraft.
