Alvarez Ready For CONCACAF Youth Qualifying
Earthquakes midfielder Arturo Alvarez was named to the final 18-player roster for the United States Under-20 National Team for the CONCACAF Under-20 Youth Qualifying Tournament, which will be held Jan. 12-16, 2005 at The Home Depot Center. The players arrived into camp on Jan. 2 and Schmid selected his final 18-player roster on Monday before the U.S. competes in Group A of the CONCACAF Under-20 Qualifying Tournament. On Jan. 6, Alvarez led the U.S. to a 7-0 victory over a group of top players trying out for Chivas USA. Alvarez scored three goals, including the first two of the second half. In the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament, the U.S. is in Group A along with Costa Rica, Panama and Trinidad & Tobago. The U.S. will open against Trinidad & Tobago on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. PT before facing Panama on Friday, Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. PT. The U-20s wrap up the tournament against Costa Rica on Sunday, Jan. 16 at 2:30 p.m. PT. Fans can follow all three games on ussoccer.com's MatchTracker. The top two finishers in Carson will advance to the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship, which will be held in Holland from June 10-July 2. Alvarez, who played a total of 13 times for the Under-20's in 2004 and scored one goal, is one of five professionals on the roster.
Quakes On The Lookout For New Talent
Earthquakes head coach Dominic Kinnear, assistant coach John Doyle and President & General Manager Alexi Lalas are currently scouting the 66 best college seniors in the country at the adidas MLS Combine, which started Jan. 8 and runs through Jan. 11 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Ca. Prior to the adidas MLS Combine, the Quakes held a local scouting combine in the Bay Area from Jan. 4 - Jan. 6 as the club continues to look for players to select in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft, which will be held in Baltimore on Jan. 14. The players for the adidas MLS Combine were selected by a panel of Division I college coaches in conjunction with MLS coaches and the consultation of select Division II, Division III and NAIA coaches.
The 2005 MLS SuperDraft takes place on Friday, January 14 in Baltimore, MD following the MLS Combine. With the MLS Draft recently shortened to four rounds, the Quakes possess a myriad of options as they own nine picks, including four third round selections.
The San Jose Earthquakes will kick off the 2005 MLS season with a home match against the New England Revolution on Saturday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m. PT at Spartan Stadium. The Quakes are unbeaten in their last 10 matches against the Revs, posting an 8-0-2 record in those matches. The remainder of the team's 2005 schedule will be announced at a later date.

San Jose Earthquakes season ticket packages for the 2005 season at Spartan Stadium are now on sale. The Earthquakes 2005 season ticket package features 18 games, including all MLS regular season games and special bonus games. The Quakes season ticket pricing once again consists of a Youth (14 and younger) and a Senior (60 and over) discount in three price levels. Prices for the 2005 season ticket packages are $198 adult ($162 youth/senior) for Endzone, $252 adult ($198 youth/senior) for East Sideline, $450 ($396 youth/senior) for West Sideline and $720 for VIP seats.
