CARSON, Calif. - Chivas USA will look to earn three points on the road when they face the San Jose Earthquakes at Spartan Stadium in San Jose on Saturday April 9, at 1:00 p.m. PT, in the Red-and-White's first-ever road game. For the second week in a row, Chivas USA plays before a national television audience, with Saturday's game being broadcast live on ESPN2.

CHIVAS USA KICKS OFF MLS RESERVE LEAGUE: Immediately following Saturday's match, Chivas USA's reserve team will kick off the very first game of Major League Soccer's new Reserve League when it faces San Jose's reserves at Spartan Stadium. Chivas USA will therefore travel with its full roster to the Bay Area on this, its first road trip.

LAST WEEKEND: Last Saturday in Chivas USA's first game of its inaugural MLS season, the team played exciting, possession soccer to the delight of more than 18,000 ecstatic fans at The Home Depot Center. In the end, defending MLS Champions D.C. United emerged with a 2-0 win, while the San Jose Earth Quakes tied 2-2 against the New England Revolution.

SEQUEIRA RETURNS: Costa Rica international Douglas Sequeira returned to training Tuesday morning after playing two World Cup qualifying matches with Costa Rica. The Ticos earned four out of six points with a 2-1 home win over Panama and a 0-0 draw against Trinidad and Tobago in Port-of-Spain. Sequeira went the full 90 in both matches.

RUIZ TOO: After their visit to Northern California this weekend, Chivas USA returns to The Home Depot Center to play their second home game on Saturday April 16, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. PT versus FC Dallas. The match marks the return to Los Angeles of Guatemalan idol Carlos 'Pescadito' Ruiz, along with the first visit in 2005 of U.S. national team striker Eddie Johnson. The midfielder was diagnosed today with sprains of his left ankle and medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee, and will be out four to six weeks. Goalkeeper Martin Zuniga is still recovering from a knee injury suffered in early March and will be out two to four weeks. Defender Armando Begines is nursing a fractured left collar bone from the same game. He will be inactive for two to three weeks.
