Weekly update: Clásico up next

Carson, Calif. - Chivas USA (3-4-1, 10 pts.) will go for their third win in a row when they take on the Los Angeles Galaxy (2-8-1, 7 pts.) this Thursday at The Home Depot Center at 7:00 p.m.(Radio: KTNQ 1020 AM, TV: ESPN2, Web: MLSlive.tv). The Galaxy will try to go for their first win in over a month after losing six consecutive games.

NEXT OPPONENT IS FC DALLAS: After playing the Galaxy, Chivas USA will travel to Texas to take on FC Dallas (6-2-3, 21 points) this Sunday at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas (TV: Azteca America, HDNet; Radio: 1020 AM Univision; Web: MLSlive.tv). Dallas, led by Carlos Ruiz, comes into the game with the best record of the Western Conference and a total of 21 points.

LAST GAME: Chivas USA made history last Saturday when they won their second game in a row for the first time. The 4-1 victory against the Colorado Rapids put Chivas USA in fifth place in the Western Conference. Goals by Ante Razov, Paco Palencia, Francisco Mendoza, gave the Red-and-White the victory.

HISTORY AGAINST THE GALAXY: This will be the sixth meeting in the regular season between Chivas USA and the Galaxy. Up to the moment, the Galaxy has won all five games disputed. Their most recent victory came April, 15 when the Galaxy came from behind to win 2-1. The rivalry between both teams is among the most passionate in the league. In addition, Chivas USA forward, Ante Razov has seven goals and seven assists against the Galaxy placing him in third and fourth place, respectively against their intra-city rivals.

NEXT HOME GAME: The Columbus Crew (4-4-2, 14 points) will visit Chivas USA next June 18 as The Red-and-White honor Ramón Ramírez with a commemorative bobblehead. Chivas USA will also celebrate Father's Day with a free ticket to all fathers when they purchase another ticket at regular price.

WORLD CUP BOBBLEHEAD ACTION BEGINS JUNE 3: In addition to the Ramón Ramírez bobblehead, two other Chivas World Cup Veterans will be similarly honored: Oswaldo Sánchez (June 28) and Claudio Suárez (July 1).

CHIVAS USA VS. ORANGE COUNTY BLUE STARS: Chivas USA Reserves beat the Orange County Blue Stars 3-1 last Sunday at The Home Depot Center. The Red-and-White took control of the game early with a 1-0 lead at half time. Chivas USA scored two more times in the second half for the 3-1 final.

COPA SAPRISSA: The Chivas USA Under-19 team finished with a solid performance in Copa Saprissa with two wins, two loses and one tie. Chivas USA finished third in Group A. Meanwhile, Chivas de Guadalajara finished fourth in Group B posting the same record. Other teams competing in the tournament included Saprissa (Costa Rica), Boca Juniors (Argentina), Real Madrid (Spain) among others. RAZOV BECOMES MLS' THIRD ALL-TIME SCORER: Ante Razov has tallied the 90th goal of his illustrious MLS career to put him in third place in the all-time MLS goalscoring list. He is now chasing Jaime Moreno who currently holds the second spot with 101 goals. At the same time, his sixth goal of the season puts him among the league's best and first place on Chivas USA's all-time goalscoring list.

BRADLEY WATCH: Head Coach Bob Bradley attained his 117th victory in the regular season, a record in MLS. The second place belongs to former Chivas USA head coach and current U.S. Under-20 coach, Thomas Rongen who has 83 wins.

SUÁREZ WITH EL TRI: Claudio Suárez continues his preparation for the World Cup before Mexico's first game against Iran this Sunday. Last Saturday, Suárez started in central defense against the University of Gottingen which they defeated 3-0.

O'BRIEN IN HAMBURG: John O'Brien continues his preparation with the American squad before the start of the World Cup. According to reports, the U.S. defeated Angola 1-0 in a closed exhibition match Monday in Germany. The U.S. will start the World Cup on June 12 against the Czech Republic.

VIRGIN OF MIRACLES: The Virgin of Zapopan continues her journey through Southern California. Currently, the Virgin is in the Church of Natividad on 57th street in Los Angeles. The ChivaTroca will continue to transport this revered statue of the Virgin Mary through her pilgrimage in over 12 Southern California churches, which will end with a special mass at The Home Depot Center on July 15, the date of the third 'Honda Super Clasico' of 2006.

BARCELONA AND AMÉRICA COMING TO TOWN: 2006 UEFA Champions League winner and Spanish champion Barcelona will be in Los Angeles August 6 to face a Mexican First Division Team to be announced. Ronaldinho, Messi, Marquez and Eto'o will be among the stars that will face the Mexican squad in the doubleheader that will also include Chivas USA vs. the New England Revolution. Earlier, in July, Club América of Mexico will be in town to face Chivas USA in a special exhibition match on Sunday, July 23. GUADALAJARA UPDATE: Mexican international Juan Pablo Rodríguez is Club Deportivo Guadalajara's newest player, having been acquired by Chivas Guadalajara during the 2006 'Draft', Mexico's offseason transfer period. Players of Chivas USA's sister club are currently enjoying a well-deserved rest after their exhausting campaign in the Mexican playoffs and the 2006 Copa Libertadores. Guadalajara resumes play in the Libertadores on July 20 when they take on Vélez Sarsfield in Buenos Aires in the second leg of the teams' quarterfinal matchup, following a 0-0 draw in the first leg May 5 at Guadalajara's Estadio Jalisco.

CHIVAS USA FUTBOL ACADEMY: The Chivas USA Futbol Academy continues play this week in preparation for this weekend's slate of games in Baldwin Park, with sessions at The Home Depot Center's Field 5 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday.
