US World Cup Bid Committee rings the bell at NYSE
NEW YORK — The US World Cup Bid Committee made a visit to Wall Street on Wednesday morning to ring in, if you will, the 2010 World Cup, which kicks off in nine days in South Africa.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber, US Bid Committee Executive Director David Downs, and New York Red Bulls defender Chris Albright rang the bell to open the New York Stock Exchange. They were joined by a group of local youth players.
Major League Soccer continues to support the US Bid for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. Garber, a member of the US Bid Committee, is set to travel to South Africa later this week as a representative of both MLS and the Bid Committee.
