The United States Under-17 side was supposed to battle Blackburn's Under-18 squad this past weekend, but the weather had other ideas.

The match was cancelled due to a flooded
pitch and alternative arrangements couldn't be made in time as highways
in Great Britain were impassable.

The training trip to England, however,
hasn't been a complete wash. Twenty members of Wilmer Cabrera's U-17
team made the trek. The Stars and Stripes prevailed 2-0 against
Manchester City's youth side on Nov. 4 behind tallies
from strikers Mario Rodriguez and Andrew Oliver.

Cabrera's kids play Scotland's U-17s on Wednesday.

Additionally, the team will participate in the
2010 Development Academy Winter Showcase and Nike International Friendly
held in Phoenix from Dec. 1-7. The U-17s will play Brazil, Korea
Republic and Turkey in preparation for the
2011 CONCACAF championship, held in Jamaica from February 12-28. The
top four teams from that tournament advance to the 2011 U-17 World Cup in
Mexico.
