Three Quakes called in for qualifying

SAN JOSE, CA - Earthquakes forwards Landon Donovan and Dwayne De Rosario and goalkeeper Pat Onstad will participate in World Cup Qualifying on Oct. 9 and Oct. 13. Donovan has been named to the United States National Team's roster for two World Cup Qualifying matches at El Salvador on Oct. 9 and against Panama on Oct. 13 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. De Rosario and Onstad have been called into the Canadian National Team's roster for their World Cup Qualifying games on Oct. 9 at Honduras and Oct. 13 vs. Costa Rica. All three players will miss the Quakes Oct. 9 game against the Kansas City Wizards at Spartan Stadium and return for the Quakes final regular season match on Oct. 16 on the road against the Dallas Burn.

Donovan, 22, has played in all five of the U.S. National Team's World Cup Qualifiers in 2004, and has registered at least a point in every match. Donovan has two goals and four assists in five World Cup Qualifying matches this year and last played 90 minutes on Sept. 8 in a 2-0 win over El Salvador in Foxboro, Mass. Donovan continues his busy year with the national team that included competing in CONCACAF Olympic qualifying with the U.S. Under-23 Team and national team training camps in January and February. The Ontario, Calif. native will join his U.S. teammates in Washington, D.C. for training camp on Sunday, Oct. 2.

De Rosario and Onstad will both play for Canada as the Canadian National Team looks to rebound after going 0-2-1 in their first three World Cup Qualifiers. The Quakes duo played in all three of Canada's World Cup Qualifiers, and will travel to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. on Oct. 2 for training as Canada prepares for the Oct. 9 match in Honduras, and then will play vs. Costa Rica in Burnaby, British Columbia on Oct. 13.

Onstad, the 2003 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, has earned 44 caps for the Canadian National Team, last playing for Canada on Sept. 8 in a 1-0 loss to Costa Rica in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying. De Rosario, 26, has played 24 times for his country, last appearing also on Sept. 8 vs. Costa Rica.
