Watch the incident: 56K | 384K

NEW YORK - The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee today suspended Real Salt Lake defender Brian Dunseth for two games and fined him $1000 for violent conduct in RSL's 2-1 loss to FC Dallas on September 18, 2005. The MLS Players Union has appealed the amount of the fine but not the suspension.

Dunseth's suspension and fine were imposed for violent conduct against FC Dallas forward Roberto Mina in the 55th minute of the game on Sunday at Pizza Hut Park. The play, in which Dunseth raised his left forearm in the direction of Mina's head, was not seen by the referee at the time. Dunseth is suspended for Real Salt Lake's game on Wednesday, Sept. 21 versus the Colorado Rapids and on Saturday, Sept. 24 against the Columbus Crew.

Under the terms of the CBA agreement, the Players Union may submit an appeal to the Commissioner for any discipline imposed as a result of an on-field incident resulting in a fine $750 or higher and / or a suspension of two games or more. Upon receipt of the appeal, the Commissioner will designate a time and a place for a hearing to be held as soon as practicable following receipt by the League of the Union's notice of appeal. A suspension shall not be stayed pending appeal.
