Rocha joins D.C. United coaching staff
WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. United announced today that the club has hired Randy Rocha, ATC, to serve as the team's Strength & Conditioning Coach. Rocha is also the current director of the Sports Performance Academy, which will coordinate all player conditioning and rehabilitation for the Black-and-Red.
"Randy is a great addition to the club," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position and we're excited to have him as part of the team."
Previously, Rocha spent two years as the Head Athletic Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Washington Freedom of the WUSA. Prior to his time with the Freedom, he was the Head Athletic Trainer for the Maryland Pride, a women's amateur soccer team, and the Washington Warthogs, a men's professional indoor soccer team. Rocha is a 1995 graduate of the University of Maryland, where he received a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology.
In addition to Rocha, the Sports Performance Academy is headed by Easton Germain and Calvin Poston. All three fitness professionals are based out of Metro Orthopedics & Sports Therapy (M.O.S.T.). In addition to United, the Sports Performance Academy assists athletes from both the Men's and Women's U.S. National Teams, the University of Maryland football team and the Canadian Football League. The Sports Performance Academy has locations in both Germantown and Silver Spring, MD.
