Reserves: FC Dallas 3, Rapids 2

WESTMINSTER, CO - The Colorado Rapids Reserves dropped a 3-2 decision to FC Dallas's Reserves on Sunday, June 26th in a game played at the Rapids training facility in Westminster, CO.

The first scoring opportunity of the game came in the sixth minute when Rapids forward Sasha Gotsmanov sent in a corner kick that slightly missed the net of Dallas goalkeeper Cassar.

In the 10th minute FC Dallas midfielder Ramon Nunez had a scoring chance from 20 yards out that Rapids keeper Byron Foss was able to stop.

The first goal of the game came in the 18th minute as Gotsmanov kept his intensity going and dribbled into the penalty area, got past three Dallas defenders and Cassar's right post for his third goal of the reserve league season.

Two minutes later FC Dallas answered the pressure with a through ball opportunity by Ty Maurin, but Foss came off the line and took the chance away.

Nunez equalized the game for FC Dallas with a powerful shot in the 23rd minute. The shot was from the top of the 18 and just beat Foss.

The teams kept up a grueling pace, and in the 40th minute Gotsmanov again rocketed a shot toward the FC Dallas goal that Cassar had to dive to save.

The Rapids gained a penalty kick in injury time when Cassar was given a yellow card for unsporting play.

In the 45th minute Wolde Harris scored on the penalty kick to give the Black and Blue the 2-1 lead.

FC Dallas scored in the 60th minute when Abe Thompson beat Foss to his right post. This was Thompson's second goal of the weekend after scoring on Saturday.

Rapids newcomer Fabrice Noel had a great scoring opportunity off of a Gotsmanov through ball 10 seconds after entering the game.

FC Dallas was able to take the lead 3-2 in the 67th minute when David Bullow scored on a long cross from Thompson.

The game ended with a couple of flurries for both Colorado and FC Dallas, but Colorado was not able to get a late-game goal and came away with a loss.
