Rapids, Burn quotes and notes

DALLAS BURN HEAD COACH COLIN CLARKE

On the game:

"I thought we dominated the game and deserved to win it. I thought
we looked a little nervous initially, a bit tentative and took our
time getting into the game. I'd love to see the goal that was disallowed
and then to go down the other side and concede one straight away
was a bit of a blow. I thought from there on we controlled the game
and had lots of chances. It was one of those nights when it just
wouldn't go in. We probably could have and should have won that
game pretty easily if we had taken our chances."

On the play of forward Eddie Johnson:

"Eddie worked hard. I thought he had a great game. He got his shots off and on any other night he could have had four goals. But at the end of the night, their coach has to sit back and thank Cannon because he was outstanding tonight with some of the saves that he pulled out."

COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH TIM HANKINSON

On the game:

"Stylistically, the way the Burn played with a constant long ball
they kept our defense on our heels. We made some adjustments at
halftime that helped settle our defensive issues and helped us get
back to the way we wanted to play."

On the draw:

"Overall you are expected to win at home and when you take a point on the road and deny a conference team to get the full amount of points, I consider that a good performance."

On Jean-Philippe Peguero's game:

"He had a couple of good chances in the beginning of the game. He probably had the first game jitters. He is a good player that we believe in. He'll produce and get goals as the season goes on."

COLORADO RAPIDS GOALKEEPER JOE CANNON

On his performance:

"Anytime you go on the road and you play a team in their home opener,
they are going to come out and try to win in front of their fans,
give them a good show so that they come back. We came out and we
fought ... you have to give credit to the 10 guys in front of me
for coming out, fighting hard and not giving up for 90 minutes.
As far as my own games goes, I think I played OK ... there are aspects
that I have to work on and do better."

On the Rapids back line:

"You really feel comfortable with a guy like Nat (Borchers) playing in front of you, and with Sulli (Gary Sullivan), it is just a matter of playing more and more games. He showed today that he has what it takes to make it in this level, I have no doubt about it. With Antonio (de la Torre) and Ritchie (Kotschau) it is the same, they are professionals that come out and adapt to the offense to play at their best."
