and he knows it. However, he is also aware that, by now, there is little that he can do to convince or persuade Arena, one way or the other.
With that in mind, the likeable Ralston is philosophical about things and is proud of what he has done in the national team shirt, even if he does not have the chance to replicate those achievements in Germany this summer.
"You can look at it two ways. You can be disappointed but not many guys can say they have played for their country and scored the goal that got you into the World Cup. I've had a long career and it's hard to complain," he said. "In reality though, I need to do what is best for me. I can't come back too early and, if I know it's not ready, I have to be honest with myself."
