Quakes host Hispanic Heritage Night

The San Jose Earthquakes are proud to host the fourth annual Budweiser Hispanic Heritage Night on Saturday, July 24 at Spartan Stadium when the Quakes take on the New England Revolution at 7 p.m. PT. Hispanic Heritage Night (HHN) festivities will start at 5 p.m. and run up to kick-off. There will also be a pre-game and halftime recognition of Bay Area Hispanic Community Leaders.

The Spanish radio voice of the Earthquakes, Carlos Cesar Rivera, will host the pre-game ceremonies in the HHN festival area during which the Mexican American Community Services Agency (MACSA), PACT, the Santa Clara Chapter of the National Latino Peace Officers Association and the East Valley YMCA will be honored for their service to the Bay Area Hispanic Community. The organizations will also be recognized in the stadium at halftime.

"This is going to be another great Hispanic Heritage Night," Earthquakes president & general manager Alexi Lalas said. "We are excited to be able to recognize and honor the people and organizations that play a major role in helping the local Hispanic Community."

The pre-game Hispanic Heritage Festival will take place from 5 - 7 p.m. on the North Field of Spartan Stadium and will include interactive Soccer Celebration elements as well as live performances by EMI Latin recording artist Chuy Jr., the star of the Urban Regional Movement. Latin Alternative Rock band Cambio de Piel will also perform at the HHN celebration.

As part of the Hispanic Heritage Night celebration, the Earthquakes will honor MACSA, who for 37 years has enriched the lives and advanced the interest of the Santa Clara County Latino community by providing seniors, youths and families housing and educational services. The Quakes will also recognize PACT, which teaches its leaders the skills of civic participation. PACT provides members of the community with the skills to conduct meetings, give speeches or negotiate with public officials. The Santa Clara Chapter of the National Latino Peace Officers Association (NLPOA) will also be honored. The NLPOA raises funds, sponsors scholarships and serves as a role model for youths considering a career in the criminal justice system. The East Valley YMCA will be acknowledged for its part in aiding the Bay Area Hispanic Community.

Local Earthquakes partner ARCA Financiera will also be present at the game Saturday night with information about their exciting new program Futbol Familia y Finanzas that is set to be launched next week.
