Quakes 2, Burn 2: Quote sheet

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES 2, DALLAS BURN 2

DALLAS BURN HEAD COACH COLIN CLARKE

On this season being a building block for team:
"It's not something that's going to happen over night. We've come along way this season and still got a way to go. But I believe we'll get there."

On San Jose's two goals taking the air out of his team:
"I think one of the big things that happened tonight was [Ronnie] Ekelund going off and [Landon] Donovan dropping back into midfield. His mobility caused us some problems. That's where the two goals happened."

DALLAS BURN FORWARD JASON KREIS

On the emotion of his last game in the Cotton Bowl:
"It was obviously going to be an emotion-packed night because of how important the game was. It was nearly overwhelming to be honest. It was difficult going into the game, but even more difficult coming out of it. We came real close of getting what I thought we deserved."

On the momentum switching after the two goals and the Burn not playing a full 90 minutes:
"After they scored the two goals, it put us in a difficult spot. We realized that we had to now score two goals, not one to go to the playoffs. If we're honest about it though, that was how our entire season has gone for us. All season long we played some incredible soccer, but it has never been for 90 minutes."

DALLAS BURN DEFENDER CAREY TALLEY

On the Burn leaving everything out on the field tonight:
"I felt we outplayed them for 88 minutes and that's tough for us to take. We had two little breakdowns and what do you know, we tie 2-2. I think we definitely did leave it all out on the field."

On the team's improvement this season:
"There were a lot of new guys on this team this year. The team's that have won in the past, there are always a core of guys that have been together for three or four years. You have to keep a team together and get the guys familiar with one another. I think next season, we'll have a better understanding of one another."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR

On the game:

"We wanted to get a result, we didn't come here to play for a tie. We knew that Dallas was going to come after us, and they did in the first 50 minutes. I thought the response from our team, to come back and score two goals like that was impressive, and I am proud of them."

"We had some close calls, and it was a scrappy win, but I am happy that we are in the playoffs. It was scary there at the end, because Dallas had nothing to lose, but we were able to hold on."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES GOALKEEPER PAT ONSTAD

"It was nice to hold on. They threw everything forward, but we were able to finally get a little luck and just hang on to make the playoffs. I thought after Eddie Johnson's goal we kind of woke up a little bit and we were really playing good soccer there, it probably should have been 3-1 going into halftime."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER BRIAN MULLAN

"I changed my position a little bit on defense that allowed me to run at the defense a little more, and I was able to go one on one, and Brian [Ching] and Ramiro [Corrales] made great runs on the goal."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES DEFENDER JEFF AGOOS

"We didn't want to be in this situation, but we were still in the driver's seat heading into this game. There are two seasons in this league, and now we have to look at each game one by one, face the challenges and obstacles that are ahead of us, and try to get another ring."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER RAMIRO CORRALES

On the goal:

"It was just a perfect cross from Mullan. All I had to do was touch it and it went right in. It was a great play by Brian."
