Lichaj in, Holden out for US vs. Argentina, Paraguay

Stuart Holden's pain is Eric Lichaj's gain.

Bob Bradley added the defender to the United States roster after the Bolton Wanderers star suffered a knee injury at the feet of Jonny Evans.

Holden needed 26 stitches to close the gash in his knee Evans created when he went in studs up on the midfielder during Manchester United's 1-0 victory over Bolton on Saturday. The center back was shown off for his efforts.

The full extent of Holden's injury is not yet known, but Holden reported via Twitter on Sunday that it was "bad news."

Steve Cherundolo and Zak Whitbread will also miss the four-day training camp and the friendlies against Argentina and Paragauy due to nagging groin and back injuries, respectively. No one was summoned in their place.

Lichaj earned his first cap in a match with Colombia in October and also played for the Stars and Stripes against South Africa a month later.

The US will face Argentina on March 26 at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and Univisión at 7 p.m. ET.

There days later, the Americans take on Paraguay in Nashville at 8 p.m. ET. That match will be shown live on Fox Sports and Telefutura.
