Kinnear's weekly conversation
What is the status of defenders Jeff Agoos and Troy Dayak for Saturday's important match-up against the Dallas Burn?
Dominic Kinnear: "Well, Jeff is walking, so that is a good sign. They are both going to travel and when we train in Dallas on Friday; we will see where they are. Obviously, we would like to have both of them available, but it is a situation where right now, we just have to wait and see how they are feeling."
Because the Burn is in a must-win situation on Saturday, how do you think that will affect the style of play in the game?
DK: "I think it should open things up a bit. We know that they have to score, and we will look to sustain possession, because with them having to move forward, that should open up some holes in their defense. I'm not a 100 percent sure what they are going to do, though. [Dallas head coach] Colin [Clarke] might come out in a 4-4-2 and think that his 4-4-2 is better than ours. If that is the case, then there will be some openings, but we are looking forward to a game where a team is going to come out and attack us, and we will be looking for our opportunities too."
After playing two World Cup Qualifying matches in the past week and a half, what are you expecting from Landon Donovan, Dwayne De Rosario and Pat Onstad on Saturday?
DK: "Landon, Dwayne and Pat know that we wish them good luck when they are with the national team and we expect them to do well there, and then come back and be able to help us. I don't know how fresh they will be. It is going to be a long week for all of them. All three are very professional, though, and understand the situation we are in and I am convinced that they will be ready to make a difference on Saturday."
