KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH BOB GANSLER
On the game and playing a man down:
"We were on the other side of it two games ago. The adrenaline flows even more when you are a man down. When happened with us was not only a matter of adrenaline, but also a matter of effort and concentration. We brought Davy (Arnaud) back into the midfield, we tucked Josh (Wolff) underneath. He and Matt Taylor took turns being the sole spearhead with one guy underneath and we moved Diego Gutierrez to left back to watch (Chris) Henderson, who we were as concerned about as anyone. It was concentration and execution, a simple formula, but we did it and we did it well."
On Gutierrez's run and Wolff's goal:
"It was a superb play by Diego Gutierrez to tank his way through three players and still have the composure and presence of mind to know where the pass needed to go. As this was developing, you saw Josh (Wolff) peel off to the right. It was the perfect diagonal and Josh (Wolff) finished it big time. Both of those guys did superbly on that particular play."
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS MIDFIELDER DIEGO GUTIERREZ
On his spectacular run to set up Josh Wolff:
"I was pretty dead from the start, because they attacked us down that right side ... I tried playing it forward and we had nothing so I waited to see what developed and I found my only recourse was to try make my way past that first guy. Once I got past the first one, I was in a tight spot and had a second and a third guy coming.
"I kept poking the ball forward enough to where I could keep going. I got a lucky bounce that deflected forward and once I got a clean look at the field, I saw Josh (Wolff). I was actually struggling to keep my balance and tried my hardest to make contact with the ball so he could get on the end of it. By the time I passed off to Josh, I was about on my knees."
On playing a man down:
"Being a man up doesn't always mean you have an advantage. Teams are more conscious defensively when they are shorthanded. I think we showed it today that our team is well organized in the back and can counter the way we did, anything can happen."
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS FORWARD JOSH WOLFF
On his goal:
"Diego sent it in and I had to make sure I was onside. Once I realized I was on, I just concentrated on making two good touches and getting in a good spot. I made Joe (Cannon) come out and I just slipped it to his right. Those are sometimes the toughest ones, because you almost have too much time. But it was good to just get it in."
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS DEFENDER JIMMY CONRAD
On playing a man down:
"I think when you play a man down there is more of an awareness of the defense. When you're even, everyone has a man and sometimes you pass them on. But when you are a man down, there is no letting your man pass you by. Tonight, we knew we needed to just get behind the ball and make it as tough as possible for them to score and we would take our chances when we got them. We ended up finishing both of the chances we were given. Playing a man down took the pressure off us. We knew we had nothing to lose with the disadvantage and our backs against the wall."
COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH TIM HANKINSON
On the positives from the loss:
"Our performance was not ambitious enough, and the quality of our play was below standards. We need to raise our game so that we don't fall behind. But our reaction to this will be to just get back to work (in preparation for New England.)"
On facing a short week of preparation:
"The only thing that we are focused on right now is practice on Monday and getting back to playing our game."
COLORADO RAPIDS MIDFIELDER SETH TREMBLY
On making his return from injury:
"It's always good to come back from an injury and feel that you are 100 percent and tonight I felt that I was. Obviously it's disappointing, not getting the result and not being able to help more. But it's a slow process. I'm glad that we're on that."
COLORADO RAPIDS FORWARD JORDAN CILA
On making his MLS debut:
"It felt great to get called upon. Unfortunately I wish that it could have been under better circumstances and that we could have come out with a win. But it's part of the job. The result leaves a bitter taste, but I'm glad that I finally got a chance to get in."
