It was a tough weekend fixture for Yanks plying their trade in Latin America.

In Mexico’s Primera División, only José Francisco Torres saw action for Pachuca as their four-game unbeaten streak was halted in a 2-0 loss to Jaguares. "El Gringo" came on as a 61st-minute sub and managed a shot on target.

Teammates Marco Vidal and Hérculez Gómez saw the match from the bench. Fellow American Francisco Javier López saw his team, Jaguares, win from the stands.

Continuing the losing trend was Samuel Ochoa and Estudiantes, who were unable to fight back from one goal down against Querétaro. Ochoa joined the fold as a 46th-minute sub but couldn’t repeat his super-sub performance of last week. The defeat keeps Estudiantes at the bottom of Group 1.

Also on the losing end was Sonny Guadarrama, who watched from the bench as Atlante were routed 3-1 by Atlas to again become the last-place team in the overall table.

[inline_node:318188]Faring a bit better was Miguel Ángel Ponce, who kept Chivas’ left wing relatively safe in a dull SuperClásico against América that ended in a scoreless draw, a result that puts Guadalajara's hopes of reaching the postseason in jeopardy.

América’s own American, Isaac Acuña, didn’t dress for the match.

Also not dressing for a match was Edgar Castillo, whose team, San Luis, counterattacked its way to a 2-0 victory against Necaxa to remain atop Group 2.

In Mexico’s Liga de Ascenso, the only American to see action was Joe Corona. The midfielder helped Tijuana build a two-goal lead before being pulled out in the 59th minute in what ended up being a 2-1 victory against Atlante Neza.

With the win, a still undefeated Tijuana strengthened their hold on the league’s No. 1 spot.

Joaquín Alonso watched from the stands as Indios de Ciudad Juárez tied La Piedad 2-2. With the result, Indios dropped to fourth place in the table.

Finally, Víctor Sánchez García wasn’t included in León’s roster as they continued their climb in the table by defeating Correcaminos 2-1.

Further south, in Argentina, Michael Hoyos saw six minutes of action for Estudiantes de La Plata as they played to a 0-0 draw against a Vélez Sarsfield team that, unlike their opponents, played for the win.

With the result, los Pincharratas kept their hold on the top spot of Argentina’s Primera División.
