Galaxy 2, Rapids 0 -- quote sheet
on the offensive side by scoring goals and the defense by preventing it. We counted on a lot of good players to get good results."
On the Galaxy's second goal:
"It was a corner kick that we had practiced all week. We have many variations on our corner kicks, fortunately the one we picked worked. It was nice goal."
COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH TIM HANKINSON
On the game:
"We didn't handle the pressure of L.A. early. But pretty much the story of the game were the two set pieces in which they capitalized. (Carlos) Ruiz broke free of his mark in the first one to even the (overall) score and in the second one, instead of clearing the ball, the defender tried to trap it. I don't particularly think that we had a good match, but certainly coming in with a goal lead if we had given up one less restart we might be still playing overtime right now."
On the injuries of his players:
"I think that our team, with the injuries that we suffered and the personnel available, has overcome a lot of obstacles. It was unfortunate that we didn't overcome things tonight, but the guys gave it all in the last 20 minutes trying to get a goal back."
On the focus of the Galaxy attack on the left side of the defense:
"I think we gave Cobi Jones a lot of space on that side and the contributions of Chris Albright stretch us. We were not getting tight enough on Cobi and therefore he had a chance to collect and feed Ruiz. We should have done a better job on that."
COLORADO RAPIDS GOALKEEPER JOE CANNON
On the game:
"Two set pieces and just little things. Attention to details, losing our marks and unlucky decisions have affected us not only tonight but throughout the entire season. I know those goals are out of reach for the goalkeeper, but I'm part of this team and I think I could have said something to my players, point them out into the right direction or something. But I have five months to think about it."
