Five matches added to Fire's 2005 broadcast schedule
CHICAGO - The Chicago Fire today announced the remainder of its 2005 broadcast schedule after the club finalized its regional broadcast schedule with Comcast Cable Systems and Major League Soccer announced its season-long package on Fox Soccer Channel. Six additional Fire games will hit the airwaves thanks to the new deals, bringing the total number of Fire games shown regionally or nationally this season to 25, including all 16 of the Fire's road contests.
The 2005 season marks the second straight year the Fire has partnered with Comcast Cable Systems to bring MLS action to homes across the Chicagoland area. Comcast will air four Fire road contests in 2005, beginning on May 31 with the Fire's second match at Giants Stadium against the MetroStars. Comcast will also air the Fire's matches at D.C. United on June 15, the San Jose Earthquakes on Sep. 21 and the Kansas City Wizards on Oct. 1.
The 2005 season marks the third consecutive year that Fox Soccer Channel will carry live telecasts nationally from the premier soccer league in the United States. Included in Fox Soccer Channel's 30-game MLS package during the regular season will be three contests featuring the Fire, beginning with this Wednesday's showdown for first place in the Eastern Conference against the New England Revolution from Soldier Field at 6:00 p.m. CT. FSC will also air Chicago's road contest at the MetroStars on May 31 and the team's Soldier Field finale in regular season play on Oct. 8 against the Columbus Crew.
