FC Dallas announces partnership with Lake Highlands Girls Classic League

Dallas, Tex. - FC Dallas President and General Manager Greg Elliott announced that the Major League Soccer Club has partnered up with the Lake Highlands Girls Classic League (LHGCL) on a nine-year partnership arrangement. The nine-year agreement will provide the Girls Classic League the opportunity to host their matches at the Frisco Soccer & Entertainment Center (FSEC).

"Announcing a partnership with the Girls Classic Leagues is a huge step in FC Dallas' transition into becoming the soccer leader in North Texas," said FC Dallas Investor-Operator Lamar Hunt. "We are thrilled with the league having the opportunity to play matches in our new, state-of-the-art soccer complex in Frisco."

LHGCL have won more National Championships than any other all girls league in the country. Every North Texas Girls State Cup Champion has been a team from LHGCL. Teams from the Girls Classic League have won a record 11 National Championships in the 22 years since the inception of the National Competition.

Known as the highest competitive Girls League in the North Texas State Soccer Association (NTSSA), LHGCL encompasses approximately 2,000 players and will be expanding to 3,000 players for the fall of 2005. Having existed for 25 years, the Girls Classic League has produced some of the nation's top players including, Carla Overbeck (Former Captain, U.S. Women's National Team) and Tracey Bates-Leon (1991 World Champion U.S. Women's National Team). LHGCL has produced large numbers of college players, scholarship athletes, collegiate all-Americans, and U.S. National Team players. The teams in LHGCL are heavily recruited by colleges from all over the United States as approximately 150 from LHGCL have gone on to play soccer at a university.

"Expansion of the Girls Classic League to the new complex in Frisco is a giant step forward for our league," said Sherri Farmer of LHGCL. "We expect the new complex to be the soccer showcase of North Texas and are very proud and excited to be able to offer the facility to our girls. It is fitting that some of the top female players in the country will play at one of the top soccer complexes ever created."
