English Football Association to conduct clinic with Chicago Fire Juniors today in Wheaton

CHICAGO - The Chicago Fire and the English Football Association have teamed up to host a special clinic for members of the Chicago Fire Juniors, which will take place at Seven Gables Park in Wheaton, IL from 4:30-5:30 p.m. CT this afternoon. English National Team Manager Sven-Göran Eriksson and defenders Ashley Cole and Glen Johnson will take part in the clinic, which is available exclusively to members of the Fire Juniors. Seven Gables Park is located at the corner of Naperville Road and Danada Drive in Wheaton.

All three members of the English delegation, who are in Chicago in preparation for this Saturday's international friendly against the United States at Soldier Field, will be available to the media following the clinic. The players and coach are subject to change leading up to the event.

Admired and respected by fellow managers, players and fans, Eriksson is known for his astute tactical awareness and his calm, reassuring style. Prior to taking the reigns of the Three Lions in January of 2001, the Swede won six league championships during stints in Sweden, Portugal and Italy in addition to the 1982 UEFA Cup (IFK Gothenberg/Sweden) and 1999 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup (SS Lazio/Italy).

With 39 caps, Cole has been a stalwart in England's backline since making his debut in March of 2001 against Albania. The Arsenal defender was a regular during England's appearances in both the 2002 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2004 competitions, with his impressive play in the European Championships earning him a spot on the tournament's All-Star squad.

A relative newcomer to the English squad, the 20-year-old Johnson has made his mark thanks in large part to his work with English Premiership champions Chelsea. The promising back has been capped twice for England, entering matches against Denmark in November of 2003 and Ukraine in August of 2004 as a substitute.
