Edu could return mid-month for Rangers
A Rangers spokesperson said that Maurice Edu will probably miss this Saturday's match vs. Celtic.
Twenty two members of the United States national team are currently hard at work in Carson, Calif., but they aren't the only American soccer players excited to get on the field.
Maurice Edu, on the shelf since mid-November, is nearing a return for Rangers.
"No better feeling than to finally get back involved in training after a long injury. Felt good today. Fingers crossed it stays that way," the US midfielder tweeted Thursday morning.
Edu, who last played for Rangers on Nov. 10 during the squad's 3-0 loss to Hibernian, could return for Monday's Scottish Cup match against Kilmarnock, but manager Walter Smith will likely hold him out until Jan. 15 when Hamilton comes to Ibrox Stadium.
Rangers sit four points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premier League table, although the club has two games in hand.
