Dominic Kinnear's weekly conversation

Thomas, from Gilroy, Calif. asks: After playing four out of five games on the road in May, how excited is the team to have only one away game in the month of June?

Dominic Kinnear: "It is not so much a matter of being on the road for a long stretch of time, but I think what is really important is that this team likes playing at home, at Spartan Stadium. Saturday nights at Spartan Stadium are special, and I think the guys really get up for those games and enjoy playing at home, on Saturday night, for our fans. It is a good situation for us now with four of the next five games at home and I think we are definitely looking forward to that."

Carlos, from San Jose, Calif. asks: In the preseason, you were pleased with the partnership up front that Ronald Cerritos and Alejandro Moreno developed. With the two starting the last three matches, how do you feel they are playing together now?

DK: "I am happy with the way they have played. I think in Colorado and Kansas City they were able to play very well with each other. You can see that they are confident with one another and they are working to continue to be even more in-sync. I am expecting even more goals out of them as they play together more."

Joe, from Fremont, Calif. asks: Chris Aloisi and Danny Califf made their first two starts as members of the Earthquakes in Colorado and Kansas City. What are your thoughts on their performance and the play of the reconfigured defensive line?

DK: "I thought that all of the defenders have played very well. Both Danny and Chris have come in and played well. They both have really wanted to play and now are making the most of the opportunity. I think they have stepped in and helped us. Recently, our defense has been a strong point for us and the two of them have been a big part of that. They have both been a good addition to the starting eleven."

The defending MLS Cup Champions, D.C. United, come to Spartan Stadium this weekend. What kind of dangers does United present?

DK: "The first and biggest danger with D.C. is Jaime Moreno. When he is playing well, they are a very dangerous team. Of course, Alecko Eskandarian and Christian Gomez are all goal dangerous and players that we need to be careful with. They are a strong team that is capable of scoring goals, but I think if we can continue to play the way we have been, and really possess the ball, then we can cause them some problems. We need to hold the ball and make them chase us. It is important for us to really pressure teams at Spartan and force them into some mistakes. I think if we can do that, then we will be okay."
