D.C. United send Henderson to Columbus for allocation

Washington, D.C. - D.C. United announced today the completion of a deal with the Columbus Crew that will send recently acquired Chris Henderson to Columbus for a portion of an allocation. The move comes on the heels of a deal with the Colorado Rapids, in which United acquired Henderson for defender Mike Petke. The deal with Columbus was agreed upon, in principal, on Saturday and approved by the League Tuesday, May 25.

In Columbus, Chris Henderson will join his fourth MLS team, after spells with the Rapids (1996-98, 2002-2005), the Kansas City Wizards (1999 & 2000) and the Miami Fusion (2001). The 34-year old midfielder has 46 career goals and 76 career assists.

D.C. United also announced today that the team has waived goalkeeper Andrew Terris. Signed on March 8 to a developmental contract, Terris allowed four goals in 61 minutes of play, for a goals against average of 5.90 in two ReserveLeague appearances.

Terris was originally signed by Major League Soccer in 2002, following a collegiate career at Standford University. He was placed in the League's goalkeeping pool and spent time with both the Dallas Burn and the MetroStars, before being called up by United twice during the 2004 season. He did not, however, appear in an MLS game during his time with each of the three teams.
