D.C. United announce playoff schedule

WASHINGTON, D.C. - With their 3-2 win over the MetroStars Sunday, D.C. United lock up second place in the Eastern Conference, earning the right to play at home in the second match of the home-and-home aggregate goals series. The Black-and-Red will first travel north to face the MetroStars at Giants Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. The return leg will be played at RFK Stadium on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. ET.

"(Our season is) not complete," said United head coach Peter Nowak. "The team is capable of doing great stuff. It's all great to achieve what we want to achieve. This is the difference between a good team and a great team. Everyone is talking about it, but there is only one who is going to get it. I think it is going to be different in New York next week."

D.C. United is offering a special Blackout playoff package of four tickets and four Blackout 2004 MLS Cup Playoff t-shirts for as low as $88.

D.C. United enter the postseason as one of the hottest clubs in Major League Soccer. The Black-and-Red have won five of their last six league matches and produced their best regular season record since 1999. Despite exiting the 2003 MLS Cup playoffs in the first round, D.C. United has a storied playoff past. The club played in the MLS Cup Final four consecutive seasons dating from 1996-1999. United earned three championships in that span, taking home the trophy in 1996, 1997 and 1999.

Should D.C. United advance beyond the opening round, the Black-and-Red would play Nov. 6 in the Eastern Conference Championship Game. The winner of the Conference Final travels to Los Angeles to represent the Eastern Conference in MLS Cup at The Home Depot Center on Nov. 14.
