Crew Week X now underway
COLUMBUS, Ohio - With the Columbus Crew's 10th Major League Soccer season just 10 days away, CREW WEEK X kicks off on Sunday, March 27, and leads into the Crew opener on Saturday, April 2.
Crew Week is the team's annual build-up to the season opener with a variety of fun events, including Crew players and coaches, as well as the Crewzers professional dance team.
Major League Soccer's opening day is Saturday, April 2, when The Crew takes on the Los Angeles Galaxy at 7:30 p.m. at Columbus Crew Stadium. Tickets can be acquired at the Crew Stadium Box Office, at any area Ticketmaster outlet, via phone at 614-431-3600 or on line at TheCrew.com.
SUNDAY, MARCH 27 - U.S.-MEXICO WORLD CUP QUALIFYING MATCH VIEWING PARTY
What better way to start off Crew Week X than with a preview of the September 3 World Cup Qualifying match that will be played at Crew Stadium. Join fellow Crew and U.S. National Team fans for a viewing party at Crew Stadium's Huntington Club on Sunday, March 27, at 1 p.m., when the U.S. visits its border rival, Mexico, in a key World Cup qualifying match. Admission is free and complimentary snacks will be provided. Beverages will be available for purchase.
MONDAY, MARCH 28 - CREW WEEK X PROCLAMATION AT CITY HALL
On Monday, March 28, the City of Columbus will participate in Crew Week as Columbus City Council President Matt Habash's office will proclaim it "Crew Week X" at City Hall. Crew head coach Greg Andrulis and select Crew players will be on hand at City Hall at 5 p.m. for the Columbus City Council meeting to be recognized.
TUESDAY, MARCH 29 - LINDEN NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN-UP
On Tuesday, March 29, the Crew will partner with Keep Columbus Beautiful and the Greater Linden Development Corporation for a Linden Neighborhood Clean-Up. From 2-3 p.m., Crew players and staff along with Linden community volunteers, including Linden-McKinley High School students, will clean up the Southwest corner of 17th Ave. and Cleveland Ave., as well as Silver Drive south of Hudson and I-71.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30 - MEDIA DAY, INCLUDING TRAINING SESSION, HAPPY HOUR, PRESS CONFERENCE AND U.S. VIEWING PARTY (OPEN TO PUBLIC)
Wednesday, March 30, is a full evening as The Crew will host a number of events at Crew Stadium that are open to the public. The team will train from 5-7 p.m., followed by a 2005 Kickoff Press Conference at 7 p.m. in the Huntington Club to talk about the upcoming season. After the press conference, the Huntington Club will remain open for a viewing party as the U.S. National Team takes on Guatemala in a World Cup Qualifying match at 8 p.m. Admission is free and complimentary snacks will be provided. Beverages and Johnsonville "Buck-A-Brats" will be available for purchase. There will also be complimentary food and beverage for media and Crew sponsors between 5-7 p.m.
THURSDAY, MARCH 31 - BREW WITH THE CREW AT BUFFALO WILD WINGS ON BETHEL
On Thursday, March 31, The Crew partners with Buffalo Wild Wings on Bethel Road for "Brew with The Crew" from 6-8 p.m. Join members of this year's team for a fun evening out.
FRIDAY, APRIL 1 - CREW CHALLENGE AT GAMEWORKS AT EASTON
Friday, April 1, is the Crew Challenge at GameWorks at Easton from 7-9 p.m. Come eat, drink, party and play at GameWorks in the Easton Town Center. Challenge Crew players and Crewzers on your favorite games and attractions.
SATURDAY, APRIL 2 - MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER OPENING DAY, 10TH SEASON
Finally, on Saturday, April 2, Major League Soccer's Tenth Season begins, with the season opener vs. the Los Angeles Galaxy at 7:30 p.m. at Columbus Crew Stadium. Tickets can be acquired at any participating Ticketmaster outlet or the Crew Stadium Box Office, by calling 614-431-3600, or by logging on to TheCrew.com. The Ohio State University women's soccer team will take on Nebraska at 10 a.m. Admission is free.
As part of the opening day festivities, The Crew will recognize former Crew midfielder Brian Maisonneuve and his family at halftime. In addition, the first 10,000 fans through the gates will receive the first of 16 commemorative "First Decade Cards." The Crew will top the day off with a post-game fireworks display immediately following the game.
