Crew reserves defeat USASA team

A nice finish by John Wolyniec, who was the Crew captain for the first time, was enough to give the local team the 1-0 victory over the USASA on Friday at the soccer field No. 10 in Easton Town Center. The game between the Crew reserves and the USASA, a semiprofessional team, was part of the great soccer celebration in preparation for Saturday's Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game.

This game proved that Robert Warzycha's team continues to improve and it's a great way to show the fans that the reserves are as capable of doing great things as the first team, who defeated Fulham FC 2-1 on Wednesday in a friendly match.

The only negative moment in the match occured when Mario Rodriguez had to leave the friendly game against USASA on a stretcher after 10 minutes due to a yet to be evaluated injury.

"I suffered a collision against one of the defenders and had to leave the game because of the unbearable pain. It's really frustrating to me because I knew Robert Warzycha was closely following this game to make up his mind as far the starting line-up goes," said Rodriguez, referring to his chance to come back to the starting team after sitting on the bench in the last four games.

"I totally respect Robert's decision, but I wanted to prove him wrong during this game," said Rodriguez.
