Celtic dance: Nuñez trains in Scotland
Spain, France and Germany -- he had never before trained with a professional club outside of MLS. The very idea of training with a club in a city where soccer is a "religion", Nuñez said, is a thrill for him, and he is happy his agent Will Shirling was able to arrange the visit for him.
"On Saturday, I'm going to be going to a game, and they've explained to me that every game, they fill up the stadium, all 60,000. So, that will be a one-of-a-kind experience," Nuñez said. "Just the experience and the atmosphere are going to be great. I can't expect too much because it's just two weeks of training. I'll just take whatever I learn and apply it to my game."
Nuñez said his goals for the trip were partly influenced by FC Dallas teammate Eddie Johnson. Johnson returned from a similar visit to English Premier League club Manchester United a week ago and imparted some wisdom to his teammate.
"I had the chance to talk with Eddie, and basically he told me to relax and to learn as much as I can," Nuñez said. "The most important thing is to make this a productive trip and come back home with a new experience that will help me to keep maturing as a player."
