Bridgeview stadium update: Canopy support structure underway

CHICAGO - The Chicago Fire has announced that the next phase in the construction process is underway for the club's future permanent stadium in Bridgeview, IL. Present construction activities include the installation of the canopy support structure on the east building as well as the cast-in-place concrete seating bowl risers.

The steel canopy support structure that is currently being installed on the east building is approximately 90% complete and should be completed this weekend. The installation of the structural steel for the stage has started and is approximately 20% complete. Once the east canopy steel is complete the erector will start on the west building canopy, and that process is scheduled to begin early next week.

The installation of the cast-in-place concrete seating bowl risers (main bowl) continues and is approximately 10% complete. This process will continue into November. The concrete on the metal deck has been poured entirely for level 2 of the east building and the majority of level 3. These deck pours will continue daily through the end of the month.

The pre-cast concrete seating section on the east side is complete with the exception of caulking and divider walls for the suite tubs. The plumbing and electrical contractors continue to install sleeves, conduit and piping in the east building and around the interior of the bowl. The process of coordinating the MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) submittals and drawings for the east and west buildings continues, while the masonry and brick has been selected and approved and is on track for a Fall start. The exterior site utility installation continues with storm, sanitary and water main work around the Stadium loop.
