Bradley reportedly favorite for Aston Villa job

Following the shock resignation of manager Martin O’Neill on Monday with less than a week until the start of the new EPL season, The Daily Mirror has tabbed US manager Bob Bradley as the favorite to take over the job.

Bradley had previously been identified as a finalist for the job at London club Fulham FC before Mark Hughes was ultimately selected. Aston Villa’s owner is American Randy Lerner, who also owns the NFL’s Cleveland Browns.

[inline_node:315478]The reasons for O’Neill’s departure have not been revealed, although reports surfaced in recent months that he did not see eye-to-eye with Lerner on transfer moves. English National Team midfielder James Milner is the latest player to be rumored to leave Villa, who have finished in sixth place in the EPL for the last three seasons.

Kevin MacDonald, who serves as the club’s reserve team manager, will be the interim coach ahead of the opener against West Ham on Saturday.

Along with Bradley, Bruce Arena and Jürgen Klinsmann are also among the names that the oddsmakers are considering.

Bradley is holding a press conference at 4:30 p.m. ET on Monday to discuss Tuesday’s friendly with Brazil (8 pm ET, ESPN2). MLSsoccer.com will be at the event and will have the latest on this developing story.
