Midfielder Ben Olsen joined United in 1998. His goal in the 1999 MLS Cup Final helped D.C. to their third championship and earned him MLS Cup MVP honors. Each Friday during the 2004 MLS season, Ben will share his thoughts in a column appearing on dcunited.com.

I hate the Galaxy.

It's true. Maybe it's the uniforms. Maybe it's their name. Maybe it's an east coast-west coast thing or the fact that Chris Albright says 'DUDE' more than he did when he was at D.C. Or, just maybe it's that they came in to RFK and embarrassed us with four goals in nine minutes.

You can't even finish your hot dog at the stadium in nine minutes. Not to mention, if you were a D.C. United fan and eating a hot dog during those nine minutes, it probably wasn't the most enjoyable hot dog. No disrespect to the RFK vendors, they make a mean hot dog. Or how about the unfortunate Galaxy fan who goes to the bathroom and stops for a beer? When the guy finally gets back to his seat, he sees he missed the entire barrage and probably thinks something's screwed up with the scoreboard.

Dema [Kovalenko] can't even do his hair in nine minutes. You can't boil water. I don't even think you can fall asleep in less than nine minutes. The other day it took me ten minutes to explain to my girlfriend what offsides was. Anyways, the point is if you're going for a hot dog in the middle of the game...

Who am I kidding, the point is I hate the Galaxy.
