United for D.C. Luncheon

For the third year in a row, United for D.C. will hold their Annual First XI Charity Kick-off Luncheon. The event takes place Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Marriott at Metro Center. The D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission is the presenting sponsor of the luncheon, while supporting sponsors include Arent Fox, Blue Eagle Industries, GMAC Commercial Holding Capital Markets and Regional Title.

The luncheon presents the attendees an opportunity to meet with the 2005 players and coaches before they begin their title defense. Busy Week Ahead

D.C. United returned home on Sunday, after a week in South Carolina, training and competing in the Carolina Challenge Cup. The team resumed training at RFK stadium on Monday, in preparation for Saturday's season-opener versus CD Chivas USA (3 p.m., ABC) and the April 6 CONCACAF Champions' Cup semifinal match-up with Pumas UNAM, the Mexican champions. The April 6 game is the first leg in the home-and-home series and will start at 7:30 p.m. at RFK Stadium. United then travels to Pumas' Estadio O. Universitario in Mexico City for the second leg of the series on April 13 (9:30 p.m.). Both CONCACAF Champions' Cup games can be seen live on Fox Soccer Channel.

Following training sessions at RFK on Monday and Tuesday, United will travel to Los Angeles on Thursday.

First Kick

All 12 MLS teams will be in action Saturday, headlined by the Black-and Red's match-up with Club Deportivo Chivas USA. The league will kickoff its 10th season by pitting the most successful franchise against one of the two new clubs set to begin play this season. The game will be played at The Home Depot Center in Los Angeles and can be seen live on ABC Sports at 3 p.m.

Ask the Champs

Washington news radio WTOP will feature President and CEO Kevin Payne, Head Coach Pete Nowak, and midfielder Freddy Adu on their weekly feature program, "Ask the ...". Listeners are given the opportunity to call in and "ask the champions" questions pertaining to their profession.

Previous guests on the program have included "Ask D.C. Mayor," Anthony Williams, and "Ask the D.C. Police Chief," Charles Ramsey. D.C. Area listeners may catch the team Tuesday morning from 10-11 a.m. on any of the station's broadcasting outlets.
