USMNT to face CONCACAF rivals Honduras in Boca Raton, Florida on Oct. 14

The US national team have added another intriguing match to their fall schedule, as US Soccer revealed via Twitter on Friday morning that Jurgen Klinsmann's squad will meet CONCACAF rivals Honduras at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida on Oct. 14.

Kickoff at FAU Stadium, a football stadium opened in 2011, is set for 8 pm ET, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN, WatchESPN, UniMas and ESPN Deportes Radio. The natural-grass venue holds just under 30,000 spectators. The US women's national team played Russia at the stadium earlier this year and it will host the NCAA women's soccer national championship this fall.

"Honduras has proved that they are one of the top teams in CONCACAF," said US head coach Jurgen Klinsmann in a statement. "As we begin our preparation for the Gold Cup, this is a great opportunity for our players to see the type of opponent they will face next summer. We continue to find huge support around the country, so it's exciting to bring the men's national team to a place it's never played before. We are looking forward to a great crowd at FAU Stadium."

The Honduras match will take place four days after the USMNT's friendly vs. Ecuador in East Hartford, Connecticut – an occasion earmarked as Landon Donovan's swan song in US colors. Both games fall during a FIFA international window, which allows Klinsmann to call up his first-choice player selections.

Donovan will not travel with the squad for the Honduras game, a US Soccer spokesperson confirmed to MLSsoccer.com

Honduras recently featured in their second consecutive World Cup, though lost all three games in a group containing France, Switzerland and Ecuador. They are set to play in the 2014 Copa Centroamericana starting next week in the US.

The USMNT will face the Czech Republic in Prague on Sept. 3, their first gathering since their 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil.
