New England Revolution sign 23-year-old Dutch forward Geoffrey Castillion
Apparently Jermaine Jones wasn't enough.
One day after adding the USMNT midfielder as a Designated Player, the New England Revolution continued to add to their roster on Monday, announcing the signing of Dutch forward Geoffrey Castillion.
Castillion, who played with Dutch Eredivisie club NEC Nijmegen in the spring on loan from Ajax, joins the Revolution on a free transfer and will be added to the club's roster pending receipt of his P-1 work visa and his International Transfer Certificate.
"Geoffrey is a big, strong target forward with several years of experience in the Dutch first division,” Revolution General Manager Mike Burns said in a statement. “He will add a different dynamic to our attack and also give us more options up front. Once he finalizes the immigration process, we’re looking forward to getting him right into training.”
Castillion came up through the Ajax youth system and has spent significant time on loan in his young career, with RKC Waalwijk, Heracles Almelo and most recently with NEC (watch highlights here).
Born in Amsterdam, the 6-foot-3 Castillion has played for Dutch youth national teams, including scoring twice at the 2008 UEFA U-17 Championship as the Netherlands reached the semifinals.
