After more than six months without a professional club, Freddy Adu has finally found a new home.

The former wunderkind is set to sign with Serbian club FK Jagodina and will begin training with the Europa League qualifiers on Friday, according to the club's website.

“It is expected that in the coming days all the formalities of signing the contract will be completed,” read the post on Jagodina's site

The Ghana-born, Maryland-raised playmaker will attend Thursday's second-round Europa League qualifying match between Jagodina and Romanian side Cluj, though it is unclear when he himself will be cleared and ready for match action.

Adu's last competitive appearance was for Brazilian club Bahia last summer, and his contract was not extended at the end of 2013. Since then the former D.C. United, Real Salt Lake and Philadelphia Union star has trained individually and gone on trial at several clubs, most recently Dutch Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar.

Based in an ancient Serbian town located about 80 miles south of Belgrade, FK Jagodina finished in third place in the Serbian SuperLiga last season. Nicknamed Curani (“Turkeys”), the squad kicks off its league campaign next month.
